1st WORKING MEETING

WHERE:       CELJE

WHEN:          FROM 19th September to 23rd September 2016

1st DAY – 19th September. 2016

Reception of guests, opening meeting, city tour.

From the project application (February 2016) to the start of the project (June 2016), a significant change occurred. With the help of our institution as an intermediary, contracts were concluded to provide practical training (PT) for students from Leskovac in Slovenia. The students had their practical training in:

  • Hotels Bernardin and
  • HIT Alpinea d.d. in Kranjska gora.

Therefore, during the visit, a meeting and a visit of potential companies was also organized (Sava Turizem d.d., HIT Alpinea d.d.), which showed interest in taking Serbian students to practice.

One of the desired effects of our project: “compatibility of the PT implementation systems that will facilitate the mobility of students in order to carry out PTs among the partner countries in the future” has become the present and therefore the significance and effectiveness of our project is still important.

2nd DAY – 20th September 2016

WORKING MEETING AT SCHOOL

At the meeting, the members of the working group of the two schools presented the complete documentation accompanying the implementation of practical training at a particular institution and a SWOT analysis.

In the first phase, the participants examined and compared:

  1. A guide for organizers and mentors of PT at school.
  2. A guide for organizers and mentors of PT in organizations.
  3. A collection of forms for the preparation, monitoring and implementation of PT.
  4. Specificity of PT performance abroad.
  5. Options and starting points for the PT guidelines for the performance of PT in terms of the record of acquired competences.

3rd DAY – 21th September 2016

VISITING THE COMPANY GORENJE d.d.

The company Gorenje d. d. kindly responded to our request to see the company and talk with the organizers and mentors of practical training in Gorenje.

Ms Milena Pirnat-Bahun, who is the Head of Projects within the Department of Personnel Affairs and Corporate Services, welcomed us. Three mentors of practical training also took part in the meeting.

The mentoring system in this company is well organized:

  • There are currently 132 mentors, all of whom are well trained in pedagogical andragogical education.
  • One mentor has up to two students.
  • Between the students, the highest share is for students of the post-secondary education (emphasis on technical professions).
  • Excellent cooperation with the high school center in Velenje.
  • Their tasks are to monitor the students while integrating into the work process, to supervise their work, to participate in the development of a seminar paper
  • The mentors receive a financial award for their work.
  • The work of mentors is systematically monitored.
  • In the end, the mentors evaluate the students, the documentation goes to the database in the personnel sector.

As an advantage of mentoring was the exchange of knowledge (young people), and the disadvantage mentioned the lack of interest of students.

Considering the question on the recording of a competence, that the student acquires within the PT, there were no concerns about its implementation by the company.

They want as many contacts with the school, organizers and mentors of  PT for the smooth running and implementation of PT in accordance with the goals.

The Corporate University operates within the company “Gorenje”, where specific target groups of employees (youth, management, international, creators, digitization) are educated.

What followed was visiting the production programme of the large household appliances.

VISITING THE COMPANY  SAVA TURIZEM d.d. IN LJUBLJANA

The meeting was intended to introduce the issues and further steps in the organization and implementation of practical training of Serbian students in Slovenia to the representatives of SAVA TOURISM d. d. and PT organizers. The experiences in the preparation and implementation of PT will be incorporated in the results of our project.

 4th DAY – 22nd September 2016

VISITING HE COMPANY UNIOR d.d.

Unior d.d. kindly responded to our request to visit the company and to talk with the organizer of practical trainig and the manager of human resources, Ms Renata Stupan, and a colleague from the public relations service, Mr. Gregor Kovačec.

The meeting was divided into two parts, namely the viewing and the presentation of the company with the film, and an interview with the two representatives of the company on the implementation of practical education, their experiences, our initiatives and our needs. The mentoring system is organized in such a way that they have about 70 mentors and about 200 students per year. Prevailing are students from the Engineering high school.

Summary:

  • At the moment, there are 70 mentors, all of whom are also well trained in pedagogical andragogical education.
  • There are about 200 students per year.
  • The mentors are not directly motivated for their work by a financial reward, but a new systemisation is being prepared, where this will be taken into account.
  • The work of mentors is systematically monitored.
  • In the end, the mentors evaluate the students, the documentation goes to the database in the personnel sector.

As an advantage of mentoring, they primarily stressed the recognition of new potential employees, as a negative experience the lack of time to work with the mentor at the expense of their work was mentioned.

Considering the question on the recording of competences, acquired by the students within the PT, there were no concerns about its implementation by the company.
There is a serious opportunity for practical training for Serbian students for Unior’s Tourism program.

Next was the production tour: the program Forgings – Blacksmith, Sinter Plant and Processing of hand tools.

WORKING MEETING AT SCHOOL

After the visit, we continued with our work at school, where we summarized the main findings from visits to “Gorenje” and “Unior”. The importance of a close and good connection to an educational institution and business is in the interest of both and can eliminate any misunderstandings and improve the process of practical training for students in companies.

Knowledge should be included in the preparation of instructions, in particular:

  • The way and frequency of contact between PT organizers at both, the school and in the company.
  • Ways and frequency of contacts between PT organizers and students.
  • A record of the competences acquired during practical training should be in a suitable form, which will be understandable.
  • Obtaining opinions from mentors in a company with surveys (VSŠ Celje – already made).

 5th DAY – 23rd September 2016

VISITING THE COMPANY  HIT ALPINEA d. d. KRANJSKA GORA

The meeting was intended for meeting representatives of HIT ALPINEA d.d. and PT organizers on the issues and further steps in conducting practical training of Serbian students in Slovenia. The experiences in the preparation and implementation of PT will be incorporated in the results of our project.
